Las Vegas DMV Appointment: All Four Offices and How to Get In Sooner (2026)
Aug 20, 2026
Nevada DMV offices are appointment-only for in-person service, and the Las Vegas valley is the busiest part of the state. The single biggest mistake people make here is checking one office, seeing nothing for weeks, and giving up. There are four, and their calendars are not the same.
The four Las Vegas area offices
- Sahara: 2621 E. Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89104
- Decatur: 7170 N. Decatur Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131
- Henderson: 1399 American Pacific Dr, Henderson, NV 89074
- North Las Vegas (Aliante): 6905 Aliante Parkway #101, North Las Vegas, NV 89084
Standard hours across these offices are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Always confirm current hours before traveling, because they change.
Check all four, not just the closest
This is the whole trick. Sahara sits near the center of the valley and takes the heaviest walk-up demand. Henderson and Aliante sit at the edges. When the nearest office shows nothing for three weeks, an office twenty minutes further out will often have something far sooner.
Run the search four times, once per office, before you accept a date. The drive is almost always shorter than the wait.
How to book
- Go to the Nevada DMV appointment system at dmv.nv.gov. Booking is free.
- Pick the transaction type that matches exactly what you need. Registration and titling is a different appointment from a driver license, and a road test is different again.
- Choose the office, then repeat for the other three before settling.
- Save the confirmation. Take it with you.
Check whether you need to go in at all
Nevada handles a good deal online, including registration renewals, address changes and duplicate documents. What still needs a counter is first-time titling and registration, most private-party transfers, new-resident transactions, REAL ID and road tests.
Working out you did not need the appointment is the fastest way to get one.
What to bring
For a vehicle transaction expect proof of identity, proof of your Social Security number, two proofs of Nevada residency dated recently, the signed title, proof of Nevada insurance, a smog certificate where required, and payment by card. For a license or REAL ID it is identity, Social Security number and two residency proofs.
Clark County is in the emissions program, so most 1968 and newer gas and diesel vehicles need a current smog check before they can be registered.
Got a ticket rather than an appointment?
Different problem, different page. Nevada removes 3 demerit points for an approved traffic safety course, with conditions. See Nevada traffic school and demerit points.
This is general guidance, not legal advice. Office locations, hours, appointment availability and document requirements are set by the Nevada DMV and change. Confirm at dmv.nv.gov before traveling.

Frequently asked questions
How many DMV offices are there in Las Vegas?
Four in the wider valley: Sahara and Decatur in Las Vegas, Henderson, and Aliante in North Las Vegas. Their appointment calendars are separate, so check all four rather than only the nearest.
Which Las Vegas DMV has the shortest wait?
It varies daily, which is exactly why you should check all four. As a rule the outlying offices, Henderson and Aliante, tend to free up sooner than the central Sahara office, so a slightly longer drive often means a much earlier date.
Can I walk into a Las Vegas DMV?
Nevada DMV offices are appointment-only for in-person services, so turning up without one means being turned away. Book at dmv.nv.gov before traveling.
Do I need a smog check to register a car in Las Vegas?
Usually yes. Clark County is part of Nevada's emissions program, so most gasoline and diesel vehicles from model year 1968 onward need a current smog certificate before registration.
What are Las Vegas DMV hours?
Standard hours are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., though these change, so confirm on the DMV site before you go.
Is booking a Las Vegas DMV appointment free?
Yes, completely. Never pay a third-party site to book or find you a DMV appointment, because the state provides booking free.
